Dooms day in 2012, pure speculation
Filed under CurrentMar 9While we were in the USA in 2009 one of our American disciples in California asked us about an Indian person in Hawaii who predicts dooms day in 2012. We didn’t know this prediction was widely known, but answered him quoting the ancient Vedic scriptures. Then after hearing this same prediction from others we deemed it necessary to make our followers aware of our understanding of how we view the future.
The creator of the universe is the Supreme Lord and He wrote books called the Vedic scriptures, and in them the future of the universe is described. Just as an inventor of a machine supplies instructions regarding the intricacies of their invention explaining everything about the machine so an operator knows how it functions, similarly when the Supreme Lord created this universe He wrote the scriptures containing all information required about the universe and how to live in it.
Recently we also came across an article stating the destruction of the world in 2012. The article cited the Mayan civilization as the source of the information and it states in 2012 the entire present civilization, including the sun will be destroyed and an ice age will begin. Scientists, geologists, astronomers, thinkers and well known writers also speculate that if mankind continues polluting the atmosphere and thus depleting the ozone layer the earth will become warmer causing the glaciers to melt, eventually inundating the entire earth and also dormant volcanoes will erupt thus ending civilization as we know it on December 12, 2012.
Followers of Vedic civilization don’t take faith in such predictions, but heed austere great seers, sages and saintly people who’ve realized everything past, present and future to be known through their purity and faith in the Lord. They saw everything that would take place in minute detail; and with great thought and care calculated the duration of each of the four ages and the exact time of the annihilation. These great sages directly communicated with the Supreme Lord, which is how everything stated in their writings in the ancient scriptures of India has happened up till now and we have faith that their predictions will happen in the future as well. As followers of the ancient Vedas we’re not surprised or the least bit afraid of what other predictors state lies in our future, because we have faith the Vedas will again hold true what lies before us. Per the ancient Vedic scriptures and astrological evidence no inundation is foretold in the foreseeable future.
According to the ancient scriptures the duration of the first age, Satyayuga, was 1,728,000 years and the Supreme Lord Sri Krsna incarnated as the Fish, Turtle, Boar and Nrsimha incarnations in that age. The second age, Trediyuga, lasted 1,296,000 years and Lord Krsna incarnated as Vamana, Parasurama and Lord Rama in that age. The third age, Dwaparayuga, lasted 864,000 years and Lord Krsna Himself came with His Lord Balaram incarnation. The present age is called Kaliyuga and began 5,113 years ago and lasts 432,000 years, leaving 426,887 years. The ancient scriptures mention two incarnations in this age. If we divide the age of Kaliyuga by four, thus deducing we are in the first quarter of the age and as of now only one incarnation has come named Lord Budda, and the Lord will come only once more at the end of Kaliyuga as Kalki, with no mention of inundation or annihilation before Kalki in the ancient scriptures, in our view anyone stating an inundation will occur in 2012 is pure speculation.
As of now, February 15, 2010 of the Gregorian calendar, there’s about thirty days left in the 2066 Vedic calendar year and on April 03, 2011 the 2067 Vedic calendar ends. Thus, per Vedic astrology, January 01, 2012 falls on a Sunday on the eighth day of the light part of the month of Pausa in the Vedic calendar year of 2068 and 2068 ends on March 22, 2012 of the Gregorian calendar. Thus 82 days of the 2068 Vedic calendar year is left after January 1, 2012 of the Gregorian calendar. Vedic calculation is based on great sages who directly communicated with the Supreme Lord and His assistants, the demigods in Heaven. In respect to Vedic calculation of the Lagna (exact time) of when January 01, 2012 begins, there is no sign of the destruction of civilization per Vedic calculation. The Vedic calendar year of 2068 is called Krodhi, meaning tension and anger, indicating there may be disparity, violence and disagreement among rulers and people due to financial or other loss, but there is no indication of destruction of the planet. There may be some untimely fall of governments and/or changes of/in governments, but no destruction of the planet is indicated. The king of the Vedic year 2068 is the Moon, and his minister/secretary will be Jupiter, which indicates to the betterment of people. And the remaining Gregorian calendar year of 2012 will pass during the Vedic calendar year 2069, and will be nice because its king will be Venus and he will act as his own secretary and because Venus is a friendly and pious planet there is no chance of destruction. But rather more people will lean towards spirituality and live a prosperous and happy life. The name of that year is Visvavasu, indicating there may be disagreement between rulers and there may be some natural catastrophes like cyclones, earthquakes, floods and volcanic eruptions, but nothing as catastrophic as total annihilation will take place. The whole world will run as it is now running and we will enter 2013 without great difficulty and the world will carry on running normally. There is no need to panic.
