About five hundred years ago, God appeared in the garb of His own devotee going by the name of Chaitanya Mahāprabhu. His appearance as a devotee of God was predicted in many Vedic scriptures that were written five thousand years ago. The predictions about Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s appearance are mentioned in the Srimad Bhagavatam, the Mahabharat, the Vayu Purana, and in many other Vedic scriptures including in several Upanisads. We have quoted some of them in the first chapter of our Vaisnava Kantha Hara book. Those who are sincere in their worship follow guidelines stated in the Vedic scriptures and do not accept any hoax as God, and therefore their worship is not futile, but instead reaches God. Lord Chaitanya, who appeared five hundred years ago, is Lord Krsna Himself, who appeared five thousand years ago. Lord Krsna and Lord Chaitanya both are one and the same Personality of Godhead. The difference between Lord Krsna and Lord Chaitanya is that when Lord Krsna appeared in this world He was obviously God and asked everyone to worship Him. When the same Lord Krsna appeared as Lord Chaitanya, He concealed Himself as a devotee and asked everyone to worship Lord Krsna and become devotees of Lord Krsna. This means that Lord Chaitanya demonstrated the teachings of Lord Krsna presented in the Bhagavad Gitā where Lord Krsna asked everyone to become His devotee.

When Lord Krsna, while still in the spiritual world, decided to appear in this world as He is, He first sent forth a piece of land from His spiritual abode into this world as He, being God, does not normally touch material earth. The Supreme Lord Sri Krsna took birth in His original form in Vraja land. That is why the Vedic scriptures state Vraja land is transcendental to this world. Vrindaban is the center point of this transcendental Vraja land. In other words, Lord Krsna, as the Supreme God, did not walk on normal earth. In every incarnation, Lord Krsna first purified the normal land and then took His birth. This is the difference between Lord Krsna as He is and His incarnations.
